Suggestions for game enhancements

Postby Wigginsmum » Thu Jun 16, 2016 7:22 pm

Hi all - Moshu is currently recoding the whole game and is asking for suggestions on further developments we'd like to see.

Personally I'd like a level or two above Grandmaster, possibly based on earning points by helping smaller farms develop.
He's thinking of adding more tiles to the Swamp area (and possibly ducks to live there).

Anything you'd like to see? New buildings/crops/livestock? I've sugested making ice-cream in the beverages workshop using cocoa powder.

I have a slow computer and my main bottle neck is in the "Seed" action and changing the "plant category" action and the actual planting of the seed. I think that the coding requires that all the graphics complete before the requisitioned action is done. If you can provide a way out, I think it would speed up my play.

David, have you tried enabling the caching of image files on your browser? that would help 'speed' up loading.

You could try this

In your about:config (just type this in your address bar to access hidden settings)

check that:

browser.cache.memory.enable = true and browser.cache.disk.enable = true

If this fails it could be a website misconfiguration, and it's my error ;)

I would like to suggest that you turn the Cooperative Awards into an infinite loop. The original rule that a Farmer can win a challenge only once would stay the same, but a new Farmer could help win the same award again. As always, the Coop wins an award after some of the categories have been won multiple times, so if the game would deduct 1 from every category after winning the award and then let the same Award continue for the coop by the new members it would increase the value of new players. Hopefully you have the old data in the database somewhere so we don't have to start from scratch.

I would like to be able to list the recipes in a particular workshop by how many ingredients they use. That would make it easier to see which products would count toward accomplishments. I'm working on a baking accomplishment that requires 6 ingredient products. Since there aren't that many of those, I have to go through all the recipes and count the ingredients to come up with the 4 or 5 things I can use for my accomplishment. m Being able to call up a list in order of number of ingredients would enable me to skip down to the ones I need easily.

So can we assume that this game is going to stay around for a while? I wanted to drop some cash on SFP a week ago but was worried the game was going away just like the advertising did.

I'll throw a suggestion out there. Plots of wildflowers and cut flowers to make floral arrangements and butterflies to go with these flowers. The flowers could be cut and butterflies captured (live of course) as part of a new set of missions.

I have always thought that what this farm game lacked was the cute factor that so many other farm games have. Don't get me wrong, I like the in depth missions and challenges but why not have both the challenge system currently in place and the cute factor to attract and hold new and younger players.

Also new players basically have nothing to do after the first ten minutes of day one. I think this puts a lot of new players off from the game having not much to do in the beginning so my suggestion on that would be give beginners infinite fishing so they would have something to keep them engaged. Then the fishing would progressively use the endurance as they leveled onto amateur and experienced.

Oh and I think developing the wetlands with ducks is a fantastic idea. Might be a great place for some wild flower plots.

"infinite" Fishing is socialism :)...I wish i had that when i started the game...I wasn't in a coop and i stupidly bought to much land and almost went bankrupt my first season..but, i did not restart my Farm, i worked my way out...we don't need a "cute" factor...we need to keep moving towards realism...An idea is to make a use of the hides in a new barn making purses and shoes and coats..etc

I'm nearly done with the game renovation, but running a little late. By Monday there should be a testable version on the Test Server. There will be nothing super duper new for now, except some practical stuff like using the mouse wheel to scroll menus, messages will be like a chat system regrouping messages as conversations. The workshops, market, coop exchange and inventory interfaces are regrouped into one screen for practical reasons. There should be a slight improvement on framerate, but that will be relative to the players computers, on mine, the game is running smoother than before. There is something that is removed though, the Set Meals from the restaurants. It's replaced by extra Maximum endurance per turn, so farmers could go beyond 1000 endurance points after eating. I hope you guys don't mind, but Set Meals are never really used right?

Keep the suggestions coming.
